Job Summary

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking an Optical Engineer to join our team of engineers and scientists. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical engineering and experience working with electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing optical designs, performing optical system performance evaluations, and designing and testing physical optical sensor systems. Additionally, they will support various forms of EO/IR modeling and simulation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze optical designs and perform optical system performance evaluations
  • Design and test physical optical sensor systems
  • Support EO/IR modeling and simulation efforts
  • Collaborate with internal experts to develop technical solutions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in optical engineering, electrical engineering, optics, physics, engineering physics, or an equivalent engineering or science degree
  • 4-8 years of experience in a related field or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience
  • Highly organized and able to lead small optical projects
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SECRET clearance or above
  • TS/SCI clearance (with CI Polygraph)
  • Familiarity with EO/IR phenomenology
  • Experience with image processing
