Controller (Hospitality) Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our rapidly growing restaurant group in West Palm Beach. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for leading the accounting and finance department, preparing timely financial statements, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and board reports
  • Complete month-end and year-end close process
  • Prepare budget, financial forecasts, and report variances
  • Partner with outsourced accounting firm
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting
  • Partner with payroll admin to ensure compliance and forecasts are in-line and accurate
  • Oversight of processing of payables, receivables, and other day-to-day business transactions
  • Manage company funds, ensuring adequate balances are maintained in bank accounts
  • Manage company's weekly cash flow and provide periodic reporting as required to management and board of directors
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and reports upon request for C-level executives, department heads, and/or project managers to support strategic organizational initiatives
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Ability to work independently, with excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prepare and understand detailed financial analysis
  • Advanced degree in Accounting or Finance (Bachelor's or higher)
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (GAAP)
  • Experience with the general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process
  • Experience in creating financial statements and reports for board meetings
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Exemplary Excel and Google Sheets skills required
  • CPA highly preferred
  • A foundational knowledge of the hospitality or restaurant industry and operations strongly preferred
