Job DescriptionThe Controller will be responsible for the overall fiscal and operational health of Pura Vida Miami. The successful candidate will be comfortable performing deep forensic audits into restaurant P&Ls and operational practices.
Responsibilities:- In conjunction with senior leadership, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring and reporting standards on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and evaluating variance to applicable comparisons.
- Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems to ensure compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain internal control safeguards for costs and revenue
- Partner with Procurement team and restaurant site General Managers to assist in reconciliation of invoices and purchase orders.
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing and future legislation.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls, guidelines, and policies.
- Perform technical research to ensure compliance with applicable accounting guidance.
- Help guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape.
- Assist Executive Committee with appropriate Financial Planning and Analysis support covering a wide range of topics ranging from accretion / (dilution) analysis to preparation of investor and board materials.
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field.
- 7+ years proven accounting experience.
- 3+ years of recent restaurant / Food & Beverage / Hospitality experience required.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP accounting and reporting policies; some familiarity with IFRS standards.
- Experience with public company filing documentations and requirements.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Experience with R365 or other cloud based accounting systems.
- Strong familiarity with restaurant POS and procurement software packages.
- Management of external audit by large global or national CPA firm.
- Working knowledge of employment law and regulatory standards.
- Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
