Overview

Under the guidance of the Chief Mammography Technologist and other supervisory personnel, the Mammography Technologist is responsible for executing mammography imaging procedures and associated techniques that facilitate interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner. This role adheres to professional standards as well as state and federal regulatory requirements.

Educational Background

Must be a graduate of a program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

Certifications and Licenses

Registration is mandatory: Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; Advanced certification in Mammography is required within two years of employment.

Certification is also required: Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association, or an equivalent credential.

Licensure is necessary: Must be licensed and certified by the NH Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.

Experience Requirements

No prior experience is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts Mammography diagnostic or therapeutic procedures in accordance with departmental standards and scope of practice.
  • Evaluates relevant information, prepares patients, and educates them about procedures and expectations.
  • Completes necessary documentation related to patient care and procedures.
  • Utilizes hospital and departmental information systems and equipment effectively.
  • Maintains productivity, adaptability, and timeliness in managing workload to meet patient care and departmental needs.
  • Follows departmental policies and procedures, including modality-specific safety protocols.
  • Actively participates in departmental meetings and initiatives.
  • Meets hospital, departmental, and professional requirements.
  • Engages in responsibilities aimed at continuous improvement aligned with organizational goals.
