Optum Patient Care Coordinator Role

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage patient flow and wait times in a prompt and pleasant manner
- Complete check-in and check-out tasks, including insurance verification and pre-authorizations
- Collect co-payments and issue receipts
- Process walk-in patients and visitors
- Answer phones and schedule appointments
- Manage medical records and ensure all correspondence is scanned and/or filed
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public

Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of customer service experience with strong communication skills
- Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to travel 10% of the time for coverage at other clinics
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience with electronic health records
- 1+ years of related healthcare experience, including scheduling experience
- 1+ years of experience handling and triaging telephone calls and a multi-system phone line
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to handle cash and count money at high volumes
Soft Skills:
- Ability to work independently and as a team, with good judgment and accountability
- Demonstrated ability to work well with healthcare providers
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
