Optum Patient Care Coordinator Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient flow and wait times in a prompt and pleasant manner
  • Complete check-in and check-out tasks, including insurance verification and pre-authorizations
  • Collect co-payments and issue receipts
  • Process walk-in patients and visitors
  • Answer phones and schedule appointments
  • Manage medical records and ensure all correspondence is scanned and/or filed
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service experience with strong communication skills
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time for coverage at other clinics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with electronic health records
  • 1+ years of related healthcare experience, including scheduling experience
  • 1+ years of experience handling and triaging telephone calls and a multi-system phone line
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to handle cash and count money at high volumes

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and as a team, with good judgment and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with healthcare providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
