Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist Specimen Processor to join our team at Ochsner Health. This role is responsible for performing various laboratory functions to support patient care, including phlebotomy procedures, specimen processing, and test procedure execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures to collect blood samples from patients
  • Process and receive specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and storage
  • Accession specimens and distribute them to the appropriate laboratory departments
  • Perform and result specific test procedures, adhering to established protocols and quality control standards
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; completion of phlebotomy course preferred
  • Current license or trainee license in the state of practice (if applicable)
  • Strong computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Knowledge of venipuncture procedures and strong interpersonal skills
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. The incumbent must be able to sit for prolonged periods, travel throughout and between facilities, and work a flexible schedule.
