Job Title: Transportation Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Transportation Supervisor is a key member of our team, responsible for overseeing the activities of our transportation team. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor service calls to ensure employee adherence to company policies and standardized work
  • Recommend corrective action to address customer complaints
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer issues requiring immediate attention
  • Escalate operational issues to management as needed
  • Coordinate with the Accounts Payable team to ensure timely and accurate processing of freight bills
  • Audit all invoices and assist the Central Billing team with discrepancy investigations
  • Follow up with carriers to ensure timely receipt of invoices
  • Manage customer requirements for load planning and routing compliance
  • Establish cross-training initiatives within the team
  • Assist management with team member performance appraisals, discipline, and goal setting

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university
  • Minimum 3 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 1 year managing direct reports
  • Experience with transportation management systems
  • Experience with optimization tools preferred
  • PC literate to include Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Environment:

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. The employee must be able to sit, reach, and talk for extended periods. The employee must also be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds. The employee will be exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
