Ranchwood Nursing Center in Yukon is seeking an experienced Activities Director to join our team. As Activities Director, you will be responsible for the coordination, development, implementation, and evaluation of quality activity services for all residents, meeting their identified needs and providing a high-quality program that promotes residents' independence.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in therapeutic recreation or a related field, with experience in activity planning and coordination. You will be responsible for assessing each resident's interests, talents, and previous patterns of time use, and developing individualized activity plans. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining necessary records, developing activity calendars, and securing entertainment, program leaders, and volunteers as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess each resident for interests, talents, and previous patterns of time use, and develop individualized activity plans.
  2. Establish and maintain necessary records regarding activities attendance and activity plans.
  3. Develop activity care plans with other functional care plans.
  4. Identify facility and community resources that can contribute to activity care plans.
  5. Plan and schedule activities, and develop a monthly calendar of activities.
  6. Secure entertainment, program leaders, volunteers, materials, equipment, and transportation as necessary.
  7. Assure all residents are involved in activities, including group, individual, and independent activities on a weekly basis.
  8. Recruit and train a volunteer activities staff, and maintain volunteer programs.
  9. Advises nursing, dietary, maintenance, volunteers, etc., of related responsibilities for an activity in advance as necessary.
  10. Evaluate effectiveness of programs in terms of resident outcomes.
  11. Develop and maintain a budget for activity programs.
  12. Coordinate facility newsletter and/or other promotion of activities programs through local media.

Qualifications:

  • Current, valid licensure as a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist, or eligibility for certification by a recognized accrediting body.
  • 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in a patient (resident) activities program in a health care setting.
  • Qualification as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant, or completion of a state-approved training course within 6 months of employment.
  • Related experience in skilled nursing, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and strong written and verbal skills.
