Key Responsibilities
  • Positioning and Image Critique
    • Competently position patients for all exams, ensuring accurate and safe imaging procedures.
    • Perform problem-solving as it relates to physical limitations of patients during patient positioning.
    • Review images to determine if additional views are necessary to complete the exam.
    • Select and adjust technical factors governing the imaging process.
    • Identify artifacts on images and assist in problem-solving.
    • Minimize repeat work and maintain annual competencies.
  • Equipment Operation and Safety
    • Operate equipment in a competent manner, modifying technical factors as needed.
    • Perform start-up and shut-down procedures on all equipment.
    • Ensure images are labeled and marked correctly.
    • Inspect equipment daily and report malfunctions to leaders.
    • Perform problem-solving as situations warrant.
    • Handle equipment with care.
    • Operate C-Arm and portable equipment in the ASC and Pain Clinic.
  • Patient Care and Delivery
    • Responsible for the welfare and care of all patients under their control.
    • Secure patient history and record it on the appropriate form for the radiologist.
    • Perform C-Arm and portable imaging in the ASC and Pain Clinic, prioritizing patient care.
    • Document patient information and imaging results as required.
  • PACS, EMR, and Software
    • Arrive, begin, and end studies in the EMR, entering outside orders as necessary.
    • Utilize Modality Worklist or select patients in Modality, acquire, and send images to PACS.
    • Log into PACS and retrieve studies as needed.
    • Perform QC processes for images in PACS.
    • Select correct buttons for prior exams and availability.
    • Determine if pertinent priors are available in PACS.
    • Ensure image links are available and working in the EMR.
    • Notify PACS Administrators of any issues.
    • Perform general troubleshooting, including splitting and merging studies.
    • Use IPAD interpretation services as needed.
  • Professional Development
    • Attend and participate in department meetings.
    • Maintain required CME credits.
    • Ensure current ARRT certification/registration and IEMA licensure.
    • Participate in problem-solving to improve department quality.
    • Maintain CPR certification.
    • Provide direction to new staff and those in need of assistance.
    • Contribute to department performance goals.
    • Complete required classes in ATMS.
  • Other Duties
    • Stock rooms as needed.
    • Assist others as needed.
    • Participate in patient education.
    • Participate in QC/QA testing and notify supervisors of results.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school/program of Radiologic Technology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of radiology procedures and equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous outpatient service experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in multiple programs.
  • ARRT certification and IEMA licensure.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials.
  • May be exposed to life-threatening diseases.
  • Flexible in a changing environment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move patients.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Able to make independent professional decisions.

Addendum: DEXA TECHNOLOGIST:
• Proficient in operation of DEXA unit and in positioning all areas to be scanned according to protocol.
• Review history from patient to ensure accurate information is obtained.
• Analyze exam appropriately.
• Archive daily, retrieve previous exams daily and perform all system backups weekly.
• Submit to Radiologist with required paperwork. SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST:
• Proficient in the operation of the C-Arm and portable.
• Determine appropriate technique based on anatomy
• Documents patients on log sheet in the ASC and in log book in Radiology.
• Print pictures per physician request.
• Submit films to Radiologist for interpretation.
