Overview

The Registered Dietitian is tasked with overseeing the nutritional management and education of all patients and residents, adhering to the latest federal, state, and local regulations, as well as our established protocols, through referrals from physicians and nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the dietary needs of each patient/resident as necessary and collaborate with the attending physician to formulate the prescribed dietary regimen.
  • Ensure that all interdisciplinary documentation is thorough and accurately reflects the services provided and the patients/residents' responses.
  • Engage in discharge planning and contribute to the development and execution of patient care strategies and assessments as required.
  • Involve patients and their families in setting objectives and goals for nutritional care.
  • Design standard and specialized meal plans as directed by the attending physician.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of all documentation prepared.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Communicate relevant updates and information clearly to patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members as needed.
  • Participate in and help develop educational programs, including in-service training and orientation for new staff.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by effectively interacting with both clinical and support staff.
  • Work positively with patient care teams and maintain strong collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain all necessary licenses, certifications, and required skill updates.
  • Adhere to all policies and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Fulfill other duties as a member of the healthcare team.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Duties

  • May assume the role of interim department leader as needed.
