Job Summary

Michael Baker International is seeking a highly skilled Roadway Engineer I to provide project leadership for the successful delivery of roadway projects within our North Carolina offices. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for leading design efforts on transportation projects, developing design plans, and collaborating with staff to develop transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement design plans, calculations, and cost estimates for roadway projects
  • Lead and manage the design of specific roadway tasks, including drainage designs for urban and rural projects
  • Collaborate with transportation staff to develop transportation projects, including roadway, bridge, rail, and transportation planning
  • Provide technical support on statements of qualifications and assist in marketing pursuits
  • Experience with DOT on traditional design bid-build projects and/or design-build highway projects
  • Lead and manage the design and detailing of complex transportation projects, including knowledge of hydraulic design and preliminary design for environmental documents

Professional Requirements

  • 4+ years of related experience in civil engineering
  • BSCE in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
  • Professional engineering license preferred
  • Experience with NCDOT on roadway projects is preferred
  • Proficient with MicroStation software programs, and proficiency with Geopak and/or OpenRoads is preferred

Compensation

The approximate compensation range for this position is $72,000 to $105,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
