Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at LaSalle Corrections. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our offenders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in sick call screening and physical examinations under the supervision of physicians and based on physician's orders and protocols.
  • Record health care complaints and take patient histories.
  • Take and record necessary vital signs for laboratory examinations and issue routine treatment provided according to physician's orders and protocol.
  • Assist physicians in providing emergency health services in life-threatening medical emergencies, including suicide prevention.
  • Participate in the screening and primary management of providing health services to offender patients in confinement based on physician's orders and using physician's protocols.
  • Maintain examination rooms and check operational status of health services equipment and supplies to ensure secure, ready to use in continuing education and in-service training to maintain paraprofessional capability and proficiency.
  • Maintain health services records and prepare designated reports as required.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing medical examinations and assessments, document results of assessments.
  • Give injections, take blood pressure, and administer and record urine, draws blood, and administer oxygen.
  • Care for minor wounds (sterile techniques).

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience
  • Experience in providing health support services in a hospital, clinic, or infirmaries is highly desirable.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must have two (2) years of Licensed Vocational Nursing experience.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Experience working in an institutional or residential setting is preferred. Must possess a license to practice as a professional nurse.
