GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for delivering comprehensive mental health services to adult patients in various settings. This role involves working with individuals who experience chronic mental health challenges and require specialized care.


Key Responsibilities:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for adult patients.
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, ensuring ongoing monitoring for effectiveness and side effects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement discharge and aftercare plans for patients transitioning to community care.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives and adhere to compliance standards.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures as necessary.
  • Document patient care and treatment plans in accordance with established medical record standards.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment options and mental health resources.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support patient care and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a focus on psychiatric mental health.
  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Eligibility for Federal DEA Registration and participation in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
  • Possession of a Massachusetts Controlled Substance Certificate.

Additional Information:

This position requires on-site presence at the designated healthcare facility.
