Job Title: Interpreter I

Job Summary:

The Interpreter I provides high-quality interpretation services to facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and service providers. This role requires strong language skills, cultural sensitivity, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and impartial interpretation services in a variety of settings, including clinics, hospitals, schools, and government agencies.
  • Track assignments and work hours using designated software.
  • Participate in trainings and assessments to maintain and improve interpretation skills.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Interpretation certification preferred.
  • Relevant professional interpretation experience preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust with clients, colleagues, and partners.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • Spoken proficiency in one or more languages spoken by client groups, including Spanish, French, Arabic, and others.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
Working Environment:
  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and 'field' time within the service delivery area.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
