Job Summary

As a key member of the BestCare Treatment Services team, the Substance Use Disorder Counselor plays a vital role in providing individual and group counseling services to patients participating in our program. This position requires a patient-centered approach, using a harm-reduction model to address substance use disorders. The successful candidate will work closely with the treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans, ensuring individualized, quality care for our clients.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with clients to complete individualized treatment plans, incorporating goals and objectives based on assessed needs and problems.
  • Provide treatment through various modalities, including individual sessions, group counseling, and family counseling, ensuring quality care.
  • Conduct counseling sessions for individuals, groups, and persons diagnosed with substance use disorders, working collaboratively with treatment team members and other agencies.
  • Assess ongoing needs of individuals, update assessments and recommendations as needed, and make appropriate referrals for additional services.
  • Work effectively with all recovery resource providers and agencies in the community to provide a seamless continuum of care for patients with substance use disorders.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • CADC-I certification required or CADC-R with ability to obtain certification within 2 years of hiring
  • Valid Oregon Driver License or ability to obtain one upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in addiction or other behavioral health field
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
Competencies
  • Knowledge of social aspects of psychological and emotional disturbances
  • Knowledge and training in substance use disorders and related issues
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365, EHR platform, databases, virtual meeting platforms, internet, and ability to learn new or updated software
