Nuclear Medicine Technologist PRN Opportunity

Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - Nuclear Medicine will play a vital role in assisting in the diagnosis or treatment of disease using radionuclides. As a key member of our team, you will demonstrate knowledge of human structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of nuclear medicine, radiation protection, and specialized techniques.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform nuclear medicine exams in accordance with SDMC Medical Imaging protocols.
  2. Administer prescribed pharmaceutical-grade radioactive materials to patients as outlined by state/federal regulations.
  3. Demonstrate appropriate radioactive materials safety measures for self, other staff, and patients as outlined by state/federal regulations.
  4. Explain procedures to patients prior to exams.
  5. Demonstrate proficiency with equipment used for NM exams (Spect Cameras, and PACS).
  6. Ensure availability of physicians for procedures requiring the administration of medications and supervision.
  7. Perform duties to maintain department functions such as QC checks.
  8. Maintain required documentation regarding radioactive materials, both upon receipt and prior to administration.
  9. Perform surveys and document findings of work areas, patient rooms, and radioactive waste storage areas at appropriately scheduled intervals.
  10. Adhere to policies related to Standard Precautions, Infection Control, and Radiation Safety guidelines as described by TDHS and Joint Commission.
  11. Work with Radiation Safety Officer in maintaining quality control and quality assurance guidelines to ensure all regulatory standards are met.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an approved Joint Review Committee on Education Program in Nuclear Medicine Technology program or equivalent.
  • One year of experience as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred.
  • Certified or Temporary Certified by Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
  • Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (CNMTB) or Certified in nuclear medicine by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) or Board eligible to take the CNMT or ARRT (N) examinations within 24 months.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
