Plumber Pipefitter Job Description

Penn State Health is seeking a skilled Plumber Pipefitter to join our Facilities Maintenance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the integrity, maintenance, testing, repair, modification, and documentation of various systems, including steam distribution, condensate return, natural gas distribution, hot and cold domestic water, medical gas delivery, distilled and de-ionized water, effluent and waste piping, and fire sprinkler systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair plumbing and mechanical systems, including pipes, valves, and fittings
  • Test and document system performance to ensure compliance with AHJ and HMC policy
  • Interact with and operate the computerized maintenance management system to record all maintenance activities
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless maintenance operations

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Three (3) years of job-related experience in residential or industrial plumbing and mechanical trades required
  • Technical school training in the plumbing arena and industrial plumbing experience preferred
  • ASSE 6040 certification, Backflow preventer tester certification, and asbestos abatement certifications required or the ability to obtain these certifications
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Must pass a written test and hands-on skills demonstration with a score of 75% or greater

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Operation of tractors, forklifts, high lifts, and other types of equipment preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and push/pull up to 800 pounds
