Job Summary

The Bridge Over Troubled Waters is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Food Service Aide to provide supportive services in our food services program. This role is responsible for assisting the Food Services Manager and cook(s) in preparing and serving daily meals, conducting daily inventory of food inventory, and maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the food pantry and kitchen areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in meal preparation and serving to ensure food handling safety rules are enforced.
  • Conduct daily inventory of food inventory to ensure that the kitchen is fully stocked.
  • Responsible for the organization and maintenance of the food pantry, including the walk-in freezer and walk-in cooler.
  • Conduct twice-yearly complete inventory of all food products and update inventory spreadsheet.
  • Assist with picking up donations of food products from local food banks and handle all other community-based donations.
  • Monitor and assist staff with meal preparation and serving to ensure food handling safety rules are enforced.
  • Ensure food storage and kitchen areas are kept clean and orderly.
  • Assure proper temperatures and methods of food storage, including recording daily freezer/cooler temperatures.
  • Assist with all relevant documentation to meet program requirements, including CACFP meal production records and other documentation requirements.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Food Handler's Certificate required.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be organized and pay attention to detail.
  • One year experience in food preparation.
Additional Requirements
  • Must pass criminal background investigation check.
  • Must pass drug screen.
  • Must provide and maintain current TX Driver's License.
  • Must provide and maintain clean driving record and annually update driving record.
  • Must provide and maintain current auto liability insurance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 40 lbs, and ascend/descend stairs in emergency shelter setting.
