Financial Clearance Specialist

At Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and service. As a Financial Clearance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our patients receive timely and accurate financial clearance for their medical services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
- Communicate with patients and their families to resolve financial clearance issues and provide clear explanations of their financial obligations.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure that patients receive necessary medical services and that financial clearance is obtained in a timely manner.
- Utilize computer applications and online tools to verify insurance eligibility, process claims, and manage patient accounts.
- Monitor and analyze patient account activity to identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and financial clearance processes.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in hospital billing, insurance follow-up, or customer service in a hospital setting.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing and ability to type 40 wpm.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic computer skills and ability to multi-task.
- Customer service oriented and excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Additional language skills.
- Healthcare finance and/or healthcare insurance experience.
- Knowledge and experience in a healthcare setting, especially patient scheduling and/or registration.
