Job Summary

This position is a key member of the Disease Prevention Team in the Public Health Division, focusing on prevention, testing, and investigation of communicable diseases, particularly HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STD), and hepatitis C virus (HCV). The successful candidate will work as a disease detective, identifying persons with infection, ensuring they receive appropriate testing and treatment, and conducting partner services and disease investigation to break the chain of infection and reduce disease incidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct partner services and disease investigation for HIV and other reportable sexually transmitted diseases (STD) to break the chain of infection and reduce disease incidence.
  • Identify persons with infection and ensure they receive appropriate testing and treatment.
  • Provide client interviewing and counseling services to individuals with HIV and other STDs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and community organizations to ensure linkage to medical care and social services for persons living with HIV who have dropped out of care.
  • Support patient navigation to curative treatment for persons living with hepatitis C virus (HCV).
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Public or Health Education and two (2) years of experience in a health-related field.
  • Two (2) years minimum working with Infectious Diseases.
  • Two (2) or more years experience doing partner services, contact tracing, and/or disease investigation of infectious diseases such as HIV, STD, hepatitis C or COVID-19.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in multiple computer applications.
Working Conditions

Work in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Ability to lift up to forty (40) lbs. Occasional in-state travel required.
