Financial Operations Accountant
In this role, reporting directly to the Controller, the Financial Operations Accountant is responsible for executing a variety of accounting tasks, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll processing, general ledger maintenance, and month-end closing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Accounts Payable and process Cash Disbursements
  • Prepare and issue billings
  • Record and track cash receipts
  • Conduct Bank and other account reconciliations
  • Administer payroll processes
  • Collaborate with internal and external accounting teams to support the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements, as well as consolidated financial reports and other necessary accounting schedules in line with the monthly closing timeline
  • Review financial statements, investigate discrepancies, and rectify any inaccuracies
  • Maintain comprehensive records for disbursements, expenses, tax obligations, and income
  • Ensure the precision of financial accounts
  • Assist with annual tax filings and other corporate reporting requirements
  • Support preparations for the annual audit
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure accurate accounting for revenue, purchases, and expenses
  • Maintain accounting systems to guarantee the accurate and efficient recording of financial transactions
  • Assist the Controller and CFO in upholding and communicating accounting and auditing policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Required Skills:
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to collaborate with operational teams
  • Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial statement preparation, and supporting organizational accounting functions
  • Proficiency in Unanet for accounting or reporting tasks is required
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Minimum Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience
Additional Desired Skills:
  • Familiarity with government development programs and contracting
  • Experience in a startup or project-based engineering environment is a plus
  • Preference for US Persons (Citizens or Green Card holders)
Location: Headquarters in Manassas, VA.
Travel: Less than 5%
