Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Social Worker/Clinical Counselor to join our team at Bernalillo County. The successful candidate will provide addiction counseling services to clients at various programs operated by the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather relevant client information through screening, assessments, and case histories to determine treatment and intensity needs.
  • Formulate individual service plans that address client treatment needs.
  • Provide clinically-based training and supervision to other clinicians and interns within the department.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions in crisis situations, such as suicide.
  • Refer clients to other treatment and supportive services as needed.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions as appropriate to licensure level and department guidelines.
  • Provide treatment-oriented educational group facilitation following department protocols.
  • Consult, train, and provide treatment planning for staff.
  • Maintain accurate case files and document client care.
  • Prepare documents and client progress reports as required.
  • Maintain ethical standards of practice, professional competence, and confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Mental Health, Social Work, or a related field, plus two years of post-graduate experience in individual and group therapy.
  • Current and valid New Mexico licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADAC), or Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA).
  • Ability to work varying shifts and schedules to meet department needs.
Working Conditions

The most essential duties are performed indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Indoor working surfaces are even and either carpeted or tiled. Indoor surfaces are typically dry and may involve the use of stairs. Work hazards or potential work hazards include those of a correctional facility environment with exposure to noise and dangerous situations that could involve serious bodily injury and other work hazards.
