Job Overview

Primary Responsibilities:

The Plumbing Rough Installer is responsible for the installation of essential plumbing system components at construction sites, adhering to specified job requirements and pricing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interprets plumbing blueprints and lays out pipes and drainage systems accurately.
  • Completes the installation of pipes and fixtures, including sinks, toilets, and water heaters, ensuring full functionality.
  • Installs underground drainage pipes within designated plumbing trenches.
  • Prepares support structures for pipes prior to installation.
  • Assembles and installs prefabricated materials, fittings, and valves.
  • Adjusts the length of pipes and plumbing materials as necessary.
  • Joins pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using various methods including couplings, screws, bolts, cement, and soldering.
  • Performs all tasks associated with a Plumbing Apprentice.
  • Utilizes tools such as saws, pipe cutters, drills, and ladders as required.
  • Measures, cuts, threads, and installs pipes at the correct angles using hand and power tools.
  • Collaborates with contractors, construction personnel, electricians, carpenters, and other trades in the installation and repair of plumbing systems.
  • Conducts tests on pipes filled with water or air to identify leaks.
  • Inspects plumbing systems to locate and replace damaged components.
  • May supervise and guide apprentices and laborers in pipe cutting and plumbing system installation.
  • Diagnoses issues and selects appropriate tools and materials for repairs.
  • Adheres to health and safety regulations and complies with building codes.
  • Travels to various job sites as directed by management.
  • Operates within the principles and guidelines of 20/20 and follows established policies and procedures.
  • Undertakes additional tasks or projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in the construction field.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
  • Mechanically inclined or possesses plumbing experience.
  • Ability to follow directions and perform tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledgeable in pipes, drainage, and ventilation systems.
  • Experience in reading ISO documents and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with plumbing practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Understanding of plumbing processes from initial installation to final inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and layout work from rough plans.

Physical Demands:

The role of Plumbing Rough Installer requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds. If lifting more than 75 pounds, a buddy system must be utilized. The position involves climbing ladders, squatting, kneeling, twisting, bending, and working at various heights. The installer will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and must be capable of walking on uneven and unclean terrain for extended periods.
