Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred.
- At least three years of teaching experience, particularly in grades 4 and 5.
- Proven expertise in implementing inquiry-based curriculum and creative problem-solving strategies.
- Strong proficiency in social studies, expository writing, literature, and writing mechanics.
- Experience in gifted education is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key member of the Intermediate School faculty, reporting directly to the division head.
- Design and implement a dynamic social studies curriculum tailored for fourth and fifth graders.
- Foster an engaging learning environment that supports high-performing and intellectually gifted students.
- Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to develop a comprehensive and impactful course of study.
- Oversee student supervision during off-campus activities and overnight trips.
Employment Details: This is a full-time position serving as a substitute for a teacher on leave. SCDS offers a competitive salary and benefits package, with compensation ranging based on educational background and professional experience.
