Position Overview

As a Clinical Paramedicine Educator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of aspiring EMT and paramedic students. Your primary responsibility will be to provide hands-on instruction at various clinical sites, ensuring that students receive comprehensive training in real-world scenarios.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Engage in the teaching of EMT and Paramedic laboratory courses.
  2. Operate under the guidance of the Paramedicine Program Director.
  3. Prepare and maintain laboratory settings for educational activities.
  4. Exhibit safe and effective use of laboratory equipment and materials.
  5. Serve as a positive role model and leader for students.
  6. Participate in annual program meetings.
  7. Execute additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma is required.

Experience:
  • At least one year of practical experience with an EMS organization at the appropriate licensure level.
  • Current certification from the National Registry of EMTs as an EMT or Paramedic.
  • Valid state EMT or Paramedic license.
  • AHA BLS Provider certification (or equivalent training).
  • AHA ACLS Provider certification (for Paramedics only) (or equivalent training).
  • AHA PALS/PEPP Provider certification (for Paramedics only) (or equivalent training).

Preferred Experience:
  • Prior teaching or field training experience.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and simulation training.
  • Knowledge of Emergency Medical Responder, EMT, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic skills and practices.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Capability to educate and support students in mastering essential EMS skills.
  • Adept at evaluating student performance and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ability to conduct assessments of student learning effectively.
  • Skill in fostering a positive and professional learning environment.
  • Capacity to collaborate with EMS agency representatives to achieve program objectives.
  • Proficient in multitasking and managing multiple students in clinical settings.
  • Adaptability in applying laboratory methods and techniques.
  • Understanding of health and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer skills.
  • Commitment to representing the institution positively and professionally.
  • Demonstrated ethical conduct and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree.
  • AHA BLS Instructor certification.
  • AHA ACLS Instructor certification.
  • AHA PALS/PEPP Instructor certification.
  • PHTLS Provider certification.

Work Environment:
  • Clinical settings, including hospitals and assisted living facilities.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Office and classroom environments with significant public interaction.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
  • Capability to handle hazardous materials safely with appropriate PPE.
