Job Title: Student Advocacy Specialist

About the Role

The Student Success Services (SSS) Program Academic Counselor will be responsible for coordinating and implementing academic and non-academic support services and cultural activities for SSS participants. This includes mentoring and counseling programs, as well as teaching supplemental/SSS classes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement academic and non-academic support services and cultural activities for SSS participants.
  • Develop and teach supplemental/SSS classes.
  • Mentor and counsel students to support their academic success.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to provide comprehensive support services.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree or related field and one plus year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to three years of experience working with first-generation, low-income, and/or disabled students, particularly within a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of and training related to academic/non-academic student counseling, advising, teaching, and the creation of academic programming within a higher education setting.
