POSITION SUMMARY

The patients in our care are adults facing serious cardiovascular conditions, including Advanced Heart Failure, Post MI/STEMI Surgical Cardiothoracic Surgeries, Heart/Lung Transplants, and Adult ECMO XVIVO for Organ recruitment.

This role is classified as part-time and eligible for benefits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of one year of experience in Critical Care or CVICU nursing
  • A valid Texas RN license or Compact State license with multistate privileges
  • BLS & ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) and NIHSS required.
  • Strong customer service skills, problem-solving abilities, and sound judgment.
  • CCRN & BSN preferred, but not mandatory

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct and accurately document comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments, considering age-specific criteria (children, adolescents, adults, and older adults).
  • Proactively anticipate the needs and expectations of patients and their families, utilizing these insights to develop a tailored plan of care.
  • Identify and implement suitable nursing interventions based on thorough assessments, collaborating with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Prioritize nursing interventions effectively based on assessments, promptly recognizing changes in patient conditions and taking appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented interventions and adjust care plans accordingly, documenting all changes.
  • Adhere to hospital and nursing department policies, procedures, and established standards of nursing practice, integrating ANA standards into the delivery of safe, quality patient care.
  • Provide timely and relevant information and education to patients, families, and caregivers, ensuring understanding through feedback and evaluation.
  • Welcome and orient patients and families to the unit, encouraging their participation in care and regularly reviewing personalized care plans.
  • Responsibilities may include interacting directly with patients, managing patient records, and maintaining compliance with departmental policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Possess the expertise to serve as a professional resource in cardiovascular specialties. Maintain current nursing and technical skills through ongoing training and seminars to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
