The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in our clinic is essential in delivering quality patient care by adhering to established protocols and practices. This role involves supporting physicians, nurses, and other healthcare personnel in the coordination of patient services and access. Key responsibilities include managing patient flow, organizing appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals. Furthermore, the LPN may serve as a mentor for clinical staff, offering guidance and support as needed. This position requires strict compliance with guidelines and utilizes a blend of experience and judgment to complete tasks effectively. Operating under general supervision, the LPN may also oversee and direct the activities of others within their scope of practice.
- Graduate of an Accredited LPN Program
- Current Louisiana License as LPN and BLS Certification
Job Function:
- Patient Care: This includes monitoring, documenting, and communicating patient conditions and responses to treatments or medications to physicians. Educating patients and their families on diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and overall wellness is also a key aspect. Additionally, performing various nursing tasks such as recording patient history, vital signs, immunizations, and allergies is essential. Ensuring examination rooms are prepared, stocked, and sanitized while maintaining necessary supplies and equipment is part of the role.
- Coordination of Care: Delivering nursing care to patients across all age groups. Assisting physicians with patient care, administrative responsibilities, and maintaining an organized environment. Responsible for scheduling appointments, managing patient charts, providing guidance to patients, and ensuring a seamless patient flow. Assisting physicians during examinations, treatments, and diagnostic tests is also required.
- Quality: Ensuring compliance with nursing standards when administering prescribed medications or treatments. Performing tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and supporting procedures like flex sigmoidoscopies. Adhering strictly to departmental and hospital policies, safety protocols, quality assurance measures, and infection control standards is critical. Efficient utilization of equipment, supplies, and resources is necessary for optimal departmental operations and high-quality healthcare delivery. Actively participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance healthcare services with compassion, understanding, and respect is expected.
