We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Montefiore Medical Center. As a key member of our Blood Bank Lab, you will be responsible for performing routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using automated and manual instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and emergency tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid, and other body fluids using automated and manual equipment.
- Monitor specimens to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Review data prior to release to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Report all panic, abnormal, or critical values to ensure timely intervention.
- Maintain quality control data on tests performed, resolve QC failures, and document actions as stipulated by laboratory procedures.
- Prepare reagents and take inventory, and advise supervisor as required.
- Maintain all records of work performed and keep maintenance logs of equipment.
- Assist with answering the telephone and perform order entry in the LIS system, as necessary.
- May have individual responsibility for the work of a laboratory unit and may provide leadership for technicians.
- Assist with the training of new employees.
- Maintain a clean work area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines.
- Position requires at least a Bachelor's degree in a physical science, medical technology preferred.
- 1 year of work experience.
- New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit are required. Applicants must obtain the provisional permit within the probationary period of three months for continued employment.
- Laboratory and hospital information system computers, variety of automated equipment, and other laboratory equipment are required.
This position is located at the Wakefield campus in the Blood Bank Lab. The days will vary, and the hours are 4:00 pm – 12:00 am, 7.5 hours daily, with alternate weekends.
