Payroll Processing Specialist

This role offers a unique chance to contribute to the state of Indiana's financial operations. As a Payroll Processing Specialist, you will be responsible for facilitating bi-weekly payroll and providing expertise on state personnel, payroll, and internal policies.

Estimated Salary Range

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $39,000, which may be adjusted based on education or work experience.

About the Position
  1. Process payroll for approximately 500 employees using UKG Timekeeping and PeopleSoft systems.
  2. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and department policies, including the FLSA.
  3. Act as liaison to GMIS, Comptroller's Office, State Personnel, Payroll Director, and DOC facilities.
  4. Maintain existing reports and develop new reports as requested by agency executive staff.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  1. Four years of professional experience in payroll, accounting, auditing, business administration, or equivalent accredited college training, with one year of supervisory experience.
  2. Detailed knowledge of public accounting theories, principles, and practices.
  3. Comprehensive understanding of federal and state accounting laws, policies, and procedures.
  4. Familiarity with agency organization and function.
  5. Ability to resolve complex accounting and payroll problems.
  6. Capacity to develop accounting methods and procedures to meet agency needs.
