About the Role

Moderna is expanding its presence in Seattle to further its mission of delivering the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines. Our new technology hub in Seattle will focus on software product development for our Commercial, Data & Machine Learning, Cloud Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering Excellence (dev tools) products and platforms.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer who brings robust technical expertise and a background in supporting digital infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud, with a development and operational focus (DevOps). This individual believes in automation but also is willing to accelerate hands-on to ensure customers are getting what they need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead team projects, actively mentor and develop team members, and contribute to team architecture.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems, decompose difficult challenges into manageable work.
  • Define and apply engineering, testing, and operational excellence standards to your team and the organization.
  • Support customers through the participation of regular on-call related duties as well as executing planned changes (change requests) to maintain the environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technology or scientific field OR 5 years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 4+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language, such as Python, Ruby, PowerShell, etc.
  • 6+ years of job-related experience in a non-internship role.
  • 2+ years of experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with traditional IT infrastructure as well as the Cloud, preferably AWS.
  • Experience leading the design, build, and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software/system solutions in a production environment.
  • Experience taking a leading role in building complex software or computing infrastructure that has been successfully delivered to customers.
