Patient Advocate Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Patient Advocate Specialist to join our team at UF Health. In this role, you will be responsible for advocating for patients while providing exceptional customer service.
About the Role:
- Advocate for patients while providing exceptional customer service to patients, staff, and community healthcare providers.
- Act as a patient advocate to facilitate problem resolution via telephone in a timely and courteous manner.
- Perform accurate registration interviews with direct data entry to facilitate full registration for all new patient appointments and up-to-date information on all established patients across multiple provider specialties.
- Provide patients verbally and through confirmation letters with notification of all appointments, including location, provider, required ancillary services, preparations, and payment requirements.
- Verify insurance information and benefits, as well as insurance referral information.
- Intercede on patients' behalf as necessary to arrange for special services, such as interpreters for both the hearing impaired and those with language barriers, wheelchairs, and other special transportation needs.
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in data entry required
- 2 years of experience in clerical/customer service, ideally in a healthcare-related industry preferred
- 1 year of experience with third-party payors and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred
- 1 year of experience in a call center preferred
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $60,000 per year
