Job Summary

The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the position of Early Childhood Education Assistant/Transportation Specialist. This role will involve working with a team to provide a developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant preschool experience for children aged 3 and 4 years old.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and executing daily educational activities and provide a safe and efficient transportation service to children.
  • Set up and maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom environment, including organization of space and material storage.
  • Conduct home visits with assigned families and plan daily lesson plans.
  • Deliver food service and participate in daily cleaning and classroom preparation duties.
  • Complete required documentation and follow up activities.
  • Work in a team setting with other staff to assess the needs of families and children.
  • Participate in professional development activities, such as the Child Development Associates (CDA) program.
  • Support the Head Start goals, objectives, and performance standards.
  • Develop and drive a bus route, ensuring safe and efficient transportation for program-related activities.
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in any field, or High School Diploma/GED and six months experience in a structured early childhood education setting.
  • Must obtain Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within two years of hire date.
  • Must obtain valid Oregon School Bus Drivers Certificate and Oregon Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with proper endorsements, or CDL Permit and be able to obtain a valid Oregon Commercial Drivers License within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to work effectively with low-income families, use positive methods of guidance, and work cooperatively with other program staff.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the classroom environment and facilitate physical activity for children.
Working Conditions

The selectee will be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use before employment. May need to provide DMV Driver Record and proof of Automobile insurance.
