About the Role

ABM Industries is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to join our team. As a Building Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the daily operations of all building systems, including hard surface maintenance and repair, basic carpentry and metal work, and operating, maintaining, and repairing all facility system equipment associated with HVAC operations and mechanical and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to customer requests and submit and close work orders as necessary
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVACR and associated systems within site
  • Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC/R equipment, including air handlers, chillers, refrigeration systems, etc.
  • Work on elevated platforms and in confined spaces
  • Assist in emergencies as needed, including emergency calls at non-scheduled hours
  • Thoroughly and accurately complete paperwork and prepare reports
  • Work according to the schedule prepared by the Chief Engineer
  • Return all work areas to a clean, neat, orderly, and safe condition
  • Learns, understands, and complies with fire, safety, and other emergency practices
  • Learns, understands, and complies with all Company and customer policies
  • Participates in training directed at increasing job-related skills
  • Assists in training of other employees as directed
  • Works overtime as needed
Requirements
  • High school graduate
  • Basic knowledge of the equipment, tools, and materials used in building maintenance
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge in Office products
  • Ability to lift and carry over 50 lbs
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to keep detailed records of activities performed and complete basic reports
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and other technical documentation
  • Ability to maintain good working relations with other staff and client contacts and employees
  • Availability to work shifts and overtime as needed
  • Valid Driver's License required
