About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller to join our team at Howmet Aerospace. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in supporting the Plant Controller in the direct supervision of day-to-day general accounting functions and coordination of month-end closing processes.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with general accounting functions, including financial reporting, fixed assets management, inter-company accounting, and daily expense analysis.
  • Support month-end closing, including preparing and posting journal entries and reconciling monthly ledger accounts.
  • Monitor and manage raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory.
  • Establish and monitor standard costs for each product and analyze MRP reports, including inventory, cost absorptions, and variances.
  • Prepare monthly business review and business unit staff meeting packages.
  • Assist in financial, internal, and governmental audits to maintain compliance.
  • Perform monthly testing of internal controls, including SOX controls, using Audit and Self-Assessment Tools (ASAT) to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
  • Assist in monthly/quarterly/annually forecasting and budgeting as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Financial Indicators (KFs) to identify operational process inefficiencies and recommend necessary improvements.
  • Provide budget and project analysis for capital expenditures and assist with financial payback and ROI analysis on capital projects.
  • Participate in the company's continuous improvement projects to identify opportunities and implement cost-saving objectives.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA or BS in Business Administration with a major emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in standard cost environments as an Accountant or Cost Accountant, with knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of directly related work experience in standard cost systems, manufacturing, and aerospace.
  • QAD and Oracle ERP system experience highly desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suites.
  • Accounting license/certification.
