The Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center (WFBCCC) is a leader in cancer treatment, innovative research, and education. With two primary locations in Winston-Salem, NC, and Charlotte, NC, WFBCCC is dedicated to advancing cancer care and increasing access to high-quality clinical trials and outreach programs.

WFBCCC serves a diverse population across 30 counties in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, providing care to over 20,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients annually at numerous regional facilities.

Opportunities for Neuro-Oncologists

The NCI-designated WFBCCC at the Wake Forest School of Medicine (WFSM) is actively seeking accomplished researchers to fill tenure-track faculty roles within the Neuro-Oncology Program (NRO). This program benefits from the established framework of the Brain Tumor Center of Excellence (BTCOE), a collaborative initiative focused on advancing translational and clinical neuro-oncology.

Neuro-Oncology at WFSM is a proud member of the Adult Brain Tumor Consortium (ABTC), an NCI-supported early-phase CNS Consortium. The Gamma Knife Center at Wake is recognized for its highly experienced treatment team and is among the most active centers in the United States.

The WFBCCC maintains strong partnerships with various research entities, including the Wake CTSI, the Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM), and the Virginia Tech-Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES). This collaboration fosters a vibrant environment for innovative multidisciplinary research.

Candidate Qualifications:

  1. PhD, MD, MD/PhD, DVM, or DVM/PhD degree
  2. Established independent research program
  3. Active funding, particularly from NCI
  4. Interest in cross-disciplinary and translational collaborations
  5. Encouragement for applicants with expertise in tumor immunology, immunotherapy, metabolism, therapeutic development, cancer stem-like cells, and animal models related to primary brain tumors and brain metastases.
