Position Summary

Proof of the Pudding (POP) is a leading provider of exceptional catering and provisions for a variety of events including conferences, meetings, exhibitions, and special occasions at the Gas South District Convention Center. As one of Georgia's most active convention venues, we offer numerous opportunities to create, design, and execute unforgettable experiences for diverse guests.

We are looking for dedicated Culinary Assistants to support event operations at the Gas South District and to assist in the main kitchen. Culinary Assistants play a crucial role in large-scale food preparation, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and supporting the executive and culinary teams as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establishing and sanitizing work areas.
  • Adhering to preparation lists provided by senior culinary staff.
  • Measuring and preparing ingredients, including creating bases such as soup stock.
  • Assisting in the preparation of simple dishes as instructed by the Executive Chef.
  • Ensuring proper storage and accessibility of all food items.
  • Supporting chefs in food preparation and addressing any culinary tasks that arise.
  • Monitoring food and cooling room temperatures.
  • Evaluating ingredients received from suppliers.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitized kitchen environment.
  • Upholding the highest standards of food quality alongside your culinary team.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation protocols in all kitchen and food service areas.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

Experience and Skills
  • Minimum of 1 year of kitchen experience; catering experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of food preparation and service, including familiarity with BEOs and production sheets.
Special Skills:
  • Ability to produce consistent, high-quality food in a timely manner.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong planning and multitasking abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a high energy level.
  • Familiarity with recipe reading.
Work Environment

This role is primarily based in the kitchen, utilizing standard kitchen equipment such as knives, mixers, ovens, and hot pans.

Uniform Guidelines

Compliance with Company Uniform Standards as outlined in the Associate Handbook is required. Non-slip footwear is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:
  • Extended periods of standing and movement within the kitchen.
  • Bending, lifting, and carrying various kitchen equipment and food items.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting approximately 40 lbs.
