Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner to join our team at the University of Texas Medical Branch. As a key member of our Forensic Nursing Team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to patients who have experienced sexual assault.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough and compassionate assessments of patients who have experienced sexual assault, utilizing your expertise in forensic nursing to identify and document evidence.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, protective services, and other agencies to ensure a seamless and effective response to sexual assault cases.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, promoting a holistic approach to care and empowering them to make informed decisions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and legislation related to sexual assault, ensuring that your skills and knowledge are current and relevant.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote excellence in forensic nursing practice.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support to patients and their families.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of two years of experience in emergency room or forensic nursing.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Documentation of clinical competency and professional accountability.
  • Completion of the Texas Certification of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training by the Texas Office of the Attorney General.
  • Certification in Pediatric and Adult Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner by the Office of the Attorney General of Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Emergency Room experience.
  • Documented experience in forensic nursing.
  • Completion of digital imaging training.
