Position Summary
This role is integral to the OhioKan initiative, focusing on assisting kinship caregivers and adoptive parents in navigating the essential services, resources, and community support necessary for their well-being and that of the children in their care. Key responsibilities include delivering direct support to families, engaging in ongoing quality enhancement efforts, community outreach, and fostering collaboration while staying informed on best practices in serving kinship and adoptive families.
Key Responsibilities
- Address inquiries regarding the OhioKAN program, provide referrals, and ensure timely follow-up.
- Collaborate with kinship and adoptive families to evaluate their needs, set goals, and offer tailored case management to facilitate their objectives.
- Work alongside diverse families and community partners with a compassionate, strengths-based approach that emphasizes respect and dignity.
- In collaboration with the Regional Director, establish and nurture relationships with public and private entities to enhance referral processes.
- Alongside the Regional Coordinator, compile and maintain a comprehensive list of services and resources available for kinship and adoptive families.
- Advocate for kinship and adoptive families to ensure access to necessary services for achieving their goals.
- Organize and facilitate events aimed at outreach, public education, and support for kinship and adoptive families.
- Conduct home visits and meetings at convenient times and locations for families.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or Director.
Required Skills
- Strong oral and written communication abilities
- Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
- Effective time management and public speaking skills
- Proficient in computer applications and event planning
Educational Qualifications
An Associate's degree is required; a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Education, or a related field is highly preferred.
Experience Requirements
Preferred experience includes direct work with families and/or case management.
Note: Local travel may be required as necessary. Access to personal transportation is essential.
