Position Overview:

Western Midstream is in search of a Gas Processing Engineer to become a vital part of its WTX Plants Operations Engineering Team. The selected engineer will oversee the daily functions of the plants, identifying and executing strategies to enhance financial outcomes, ensure regulatory adherence, and uphold process safety standards.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to conduct essential operations engineering tasks, including calculations, process simulations, and field assessments, while collaborating closely with operations staff and project engineers to evaluate and implement improvement opportunities.

Key Qualifications:
  • 4 to 12 years of comprehensive engineering experience in support of oil, gas, or chemical processing facilities
  • A minimum of 3 years in a role as an operations support engineer
  • Knowledge of prevalent gas processing technologies (GSP, RSV, SCORE)
  • Proficiency in gas processing simulation software (Symmetry, HYSYS, ProTreat, ProMax)
  • Familiarity with gas compression simulation software (Ariel) is advantageous
  • Hands-on experience with gas processing equipment (brazed aluminum heat exchangers, demethanizers, screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, mole sieve adsorbers, slug catchers, refrigeration units, turboexpanders) is essential
  • Experience with process control systems is preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the plants to guarantee safe, compliant, and profitable functioning
  • Engage in Process Hazard Analyses and Management of Change evaluations
  • Analyze process simulation outcomes against plant data to resolve operational challenges
  • Recommend preventative maintenance actions based on plant performance data
  • Provide technical suggestions to optimize NGL recoveries and/or reduce energy consumption
  • Advise on capital projects aimed at enhancing safety, environmental compliance, and plant profitability, including process simulation, cost estimation, and economic assessments
  • Support operations in refining control loops and modifying control strategies to boost plant efficiency
Educational Background:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is required

- P.E. Certification is beneficial but not mandatory

Travel Expectations:
  • Approximately 25% of workdays will be spent at the plant site
Work Schedule:

This role entails a work schedule of 9 hours from Monday to Thursday and 4 hours on Friday. The candidate will work in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, while Wednesdays and Fridays will be remote workdays. To work remotely, reliable access to corporate IT systems is necessary.
