Job Description

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners at Amoskeag Health provide psychosocial evaluation, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions for patients with various behavioral health issues. This may include medication management, brief interventions, assessments, and referrals. The Psych NP's at Amoskeag Health staff what is primarily a consultative service. The primary care providers (PCP's) refer patients to the Psych NP's by way of the counseling staff and the main reasons for referrals are either clarification of a psychiatric diagnosis or diagnoses or assistance with a medication plan of care for the patient.

Pediatric Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners see patients ages 8 and older. They work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans that address the unique needs of each patient. The Psych NP's also provide education and support to patients and their families to promote healthy behaviors and outcomes.

  • Provide leadership and shape the clinical direction of our program by providing bio-psychosocial evaluation, diagnosis and therapeutic interventions while working on a multi-dimensional team.
  • Evaluate treatment services including medications management, counseling, brief treatment interventions, substance abuse assessments, treatments and referrals.
  • Make appropriate referrals to both internal disciplines of Amoskeag Health and/or external agencies for additional services required.
  • Prescribe medications for clients for treatment of medical conditions, when indicated.
