We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Marlboro Animal Hospital. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians and veterinary technicians in their duties.
Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in all aspects of patient care, including preparing animals for exams and surgery.
- Perform medical treatments, laboratory tests, and administer medications under the direction of a veterinarian or veterinary technician.
- Obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens (cytology, blood draws, blood smear, fecal, etc.).
- Work in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs and maintain a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant, and clean facility for animals.
- Handle animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous, and tactful manner, and inform staff and clients of any pertinent medical information related to animal care.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker.
- Fluent in written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members.
