Job Title: Mental Health Worker

Boys and Girls Village INC is seeking a skilled Mental Health Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will provide a safe, orderly, and nurturing living experience for children in care, engaging them in developing adaptive living skills and actively supervising, monitoring, and managing crisis situations therapeutically.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care, supervision, behavioral management, recreational, and therapeutic programming for children in care.
  • Assist clients with daily living skills and teach them new skills to promote independence.
  • Implement goals and objectives of each client's treatment and crisis management plans as part of daily activities.
  • Complete documentation daily, including PNMI moments in time, monitoring sheets, and incident reports.
  • Notify supervisors and/or Director regarding campus crisis situations, including elopements, major aggression, and sexual acting out.
  • Be familiar with and implement all program policies and procedures.
  • Provide crisis intervention using individual, group, and peer principles, and perform emergency safety interventions safely and effectively.
  • May be mandated to stay beyond the end of shift if coverage is required.
  • Adhere to the staffing schedule, with shift assignments determined by program needs.
  • Administer medication, as scheduled by nurse and prescribed by psychiatrist, if certified.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and complete all Relias trainings by due date.
Requirements:
  • An Associate's degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Ability to deal with crisis situations, implement behavior modification programs, maintain appropriate boundaries, and work as a team member.
  • Effective communication skills in working with children, families, and other staff.
  • Competency-based training requirements in TCI and Social Skills Model.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours, if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services.
  • Bilingual.
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity and childhood development.
