Job Summary

This position provides technical support for the Remediation Division's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data. The successful candidate will assist in defining GIS needs, carrying out GIS work, and producing maps and spatial analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and improve Remediation Division data, including collection, interpretation, and communication of data and information.
  • Develop and implement GIS solutions to meet the needs of the Remediation Division.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective data management and analysis.
  • Provide technical support for GIS-related projects and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Three years of professional experience in managing scientific data, querying databases, performing quantitative analysis, spatial analysis, statistical modeling, and analyzing and reporting on data.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or other Natural Science, or Statistics or other related degree with a broad knowledge of environmental sciences, natural sciences, or Geographical Information System (GIS) and two years of professional experience in managing data, querying databases, performing quantitative analysis, spatial analysis, statistical modeling, and analyzing and reporting on data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience communicating and collaborating with others in a work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing, developing, and conducting data analysis and GIS projects from a wide variety of datasets.
  • Experience in a variety of data science software such as GIS software, Tableau, SQL Developer, MS Access, Python, R, or other statistical analysis software.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret scientific data.
  • Understanding of the relationship and application of various tools and models within GIS.
  • Experience manipulating and managing large datasets with a wide variety of approaches and tools.
  • Possess an understanding of environmental remediation programs.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulatory framework and their applicability to data projects.
  • Organizational skills to balance several efforts simultaneously and ensure projects are completed timely.
Additional Requirements
  • Position duties may require travel, but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position.
  • Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver's license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
