The EMMETT initiative, a cutting-edge Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system, aims to create a comprehensive database of resident space objects (RSOs), identify RSOs of significance, and supply essential data to ground operators. The EMMETT team utilizes programmatic strategies, sensor modeling, and systems engineering proficiency to deliver this premier SDA I&W solution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in TS/SCI Java software development for various modules, employing techniques such as event-driven or state-driven programming, error logging, and exception management.
  • Conduct TS/SCI software analysis, architecture, engineering, and integration services across unit, module, and system levels.
  • Oversee all facets of software engineering support necessary for system implementation.
  • Comply with open standards and contemporary software development practices, adhering to industry-recognized 'best' practices as operational requirements permit.
  • Generate technical reports, white papers, and documentation to detail findings from all software engineering activities.
Required Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience; OR a PhD with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • This role necessitates a minimum of Top Secret clearance with the capability to upgrade to TS/SCI and successfully pass a polygraph examination as required.
  • Proficiency in Java (Model, Entity, Data Transfer Object (DTO), Data Access (DAO)).
  • Experience in software design and development within cloud architectures, including container utilization (Docker).
  • Familiarity with Unix-based operating systems, particularly RedHat Enterprise Linux.
  • Knowledge of Remote Debugging (JDWP) and Spring Framework - MapStruct Annotations.
  • Experience with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, including query and command comprehension.
  • Proficient in using Linux distributions and command-line navigation.
  • Experience with messaging systems like ActiveMQ and Camel Route.
  • Understanding of web application fundamentals including HTTP, HTML, REST, WebSocket, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and Gerrit/GIT.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka.
  • Knowledge of Microservices, Containerization, and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with cluster management tools such as AWS EKS and Rancher.
  • Practical experience with AWS services like RDS and ElastiCache.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language, such as Python.
  • Familiarity with web server configuration on NGINX, Apache, or similar platforms.
  • Experience utilizing AWS as a developer.
  • Familiarity with build/deploy tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
  • Experience collaborating with external developers and integrating their components into larger frameworks.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Background in physics, mathematics, or aerospace.
  • Experience with NiFi, including flow and process group development.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification or progress toward certification.
