Role Overview:
This position is part of Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. Our team provides manufacturing and supply chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As a member of our diverse team of innovators, you will contribute to the next chapters in the history of space exploration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and support the production of gas tungsten arc (GTA) and variable polarity plasma arc (VPPA) welding processes for aerospace hardware, adhering to stringent specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the manufacturing area to construct launch vehicles and spacecraft.
- Write and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WQR) in compliance with AWS D17.1 or other relevant standards.
- Analyze Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) results and address any nonconformities.
- Work alongside a multidisciplinary team to design tooling and welding procedures for flight hardware.
- Manage relationships with external testing laboratories, material suppliers, and equipment vendors.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, welding engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy and arc physics.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and positive relationships in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or legally admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in materials or welding engineering.
- Two years of experience with GTA, PA, or VPPA welding processes.
- Familiarity with aerospace fusion welding techniques in various materials including stainless steel, nickel, titanium, and aluminum.
- Proficiency in CAD software (preferably Creo or NX).
