Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Staff Member to join our team at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. As a key member of our Environmental Services team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, common areas, and other assigned areas, adhering to strict infection control and safety protocols.
  • Operate and maintain all necessary equipment and tools, including vacuums, putty knives, carts, and trash mobiles.
  • Restock and maintain cleaning carts and supplies, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Remove trash and other waste, identifying and handling proper waste streams.
  • Follow all infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, and standard and isolation precautions.
  • Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
  • Practice critical thinking skills and demonstrate personal accountability and respect for colleagues, patients, and visitors.
  • Identify and utilize resources to resolve problems or concerns.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements and ability to operate and maintain all EVS tools and equipment.
  • Assist with on-boarding and peer-training of new Environmental Technicians.
Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively at a 6th-9th grade level.
  • Ability to operate and utilize pagers, vacuums, putty knives, carts, and trash mobiles.
  • Ability to tolerate unpleasant odors and possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
  • Ability to constantly move, lift, or carry light to medium weight equipment, furniture, etc.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, reach, stretch, push, and pull.
  • Ability to move and/or lift material and damp mops or towels weighing up to 10 lbs., 70% of the time; move carts weighing up to 40 lbs., 10% of the time; and move carts weighing up to 50 lbs., 20% of the time.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to dust, chemicals, and unpleasant odors. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
