Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Evaluation: Perform comprehensive evaluations of patients' auditory capabilities through detailed interviews, thorough case history assessments, and diagnostic examinations. Assess and interpret hearing thresholds, speech recognition, and various auditory functions.
  • Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: Utilize assessment findings to identify the type, degree, and potential origins of hearing impairment. Formulate individualized treatment strategies, which may include recommending suitable hearing aids, assistive listening devices, or other rehabilitative approaches.
  • Hearing Aid Consultation and Fitting: Recommend the most appropriate hearing aids tailored to the patient's requirements, lifestyle, and financial considerations. Execute ear impression measurements and ensure precise fitting of hearing aids. Program and adjust devices to enhance performance and patient satisfaction.
  • Patient Education and Support: Deliver thorough counseling and educational resources to patients and their families regarding hearing loss, communication techniques, hearing aid operation, maintenance, and realistic expectations. Address any inquiries or concerns to promote successful adaptation to hearing aids.
  • Ongoing Care: Arrange and conduct follow-up consultations to track patients' progress, assess the effectiveness of hearing aids, and implement necessary adjustments or enhancements.
  • Record Maintenance: Ensure meticulous and current documentation of patient records, encompassing assessment outcomes, treatment plans, progress notes, and other pertinent information. Comply with legal and ethical standards concerning confidentiality and record management.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of one (1) year of post-licensure experience in hearing aid dispensing and clinical audiology is preferred.
  • A Doctoral degree in Audiology is preferred, although a Master's degree from an accredited program may be considered.
  • Possession of current licensure in North Carolina or the ability to obtain such licensure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse patient populations and address their needs.
