Key Responsibilities:
- Rooming patients and recording vital signs
- Assisting with medical procedures
- Preparing the clinic in accordance with provider-specific protocols
- Primarily focused on back-office tasks, with occasional front-office support as needed
- Ensuring a clean, organized, and safe working environment
- Facilitating patient care services that align with the physician's practice
- Communicating physician instructions to patients or authorized individuals
- Collecting patient information both in-person and via phone
- Documenting patient inquiries, messages, and care provided in the electronic medical record for physician review
- Administering medications as directed by the physician
- Coordinating appointments and procedures
- Accurate message taking and routing
- Entering orders and referrals
- Obtaining pre-certifications
- Setting up cases in the electronic health record system
- Basic patient registration and updating demographic information
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program, Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
Required Certification:
- BLS certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient setting
- Prior experience in Orthopedic Surgery
