We are seeking a highly skilled Coastal Biodiversity Data Analyst to join our team at the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and analyzing biodiversity data on Natural Heritage Resources (NHR) in the coastal zone. This involves integrating data from field, literature, and partner sources into the proprietary database management system called Biotics.

The incumbent will work closely with our team to develop and maintain Biotics, and will be responsible for training staff on its use and providing technical support.

This position requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and analyze biodiversity data on NHR
  • Integrate data from field, literature, and partner sources into Biotics
  • Train staff on Biotics use and provide technical support
Requirements
  • Degree in ecology, conservation biology, or related field
  • Knowledge of GIS software and spatial analysis
  • Experience with database management systems
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Salary: $62,000 - $72,000 per year, depending on experience.
